NLP, or neuro linguistic programming, can be described as a user manual for the mind.  It’s a collection of techniques that  help you use the language of your mind to produce specific results.

The techniques themselves are developed from studies into excellence, and how to recreate excellent behaviour or results in yourself and others.  In short, NLP is about mastering your mind, your communication, your behaviour and your results.

With NLP you can identify patterns of behaviour that hold you back, or simply don’t work for you, and change them for new, more appropriate, behaviour patterns.

You can do this by changing your thinking, your beliefs about yourself, and the results you produce to create long lasting, positive change.  And, because the changes are made at the unconscious level, they take place very quickly.

For instance, you can…

• Lose weight
• Develop confidence
• Clear depression
• Remove negative beliefs, and replace them with positive ones
• Learn to control your emotional state, whatever situation you face
• Remove fears and phobias
• Develop behavioural flexibility to ensure you succeed
• Remove stress
• Build and maintain instant rapport with a wide range of people

…and much more.

Let’s break Neuro Linguistic Programming down…

Neuro – Relates to the nervous system through which our experience of life, and information from our five senses is processed.

Linguistic – Relates to language and other non-verbal communication, through which our experience of the world is given meaning.  It includes pictures, sounds, feelings, tastes, smells and words. It focuses on  language and how we communicate experiences to ourselves and others.

Programming - The ability to discover and utilise the programmes, or internal strategies and steps, we use to achieve specific results.

In other words…

NLP is how to use the language of the mind to achieve our goals.  NLP techniques demonstrate how we “code” our experience.  When we understand the specific ways that our brains operate, then it is easier to make changes, to learn and to communicate effectively with ourselves and with others.
